Description:
The £40 Million, four-year project has involved rewriting every line of code in Nomura's overseas operations. Geoff Doubleday, Nomura's chief administrative office, claimed that as a result, the firm was 'two years ahead of the competition.' Doubleday stated the project-dubbed hoodini-allowed much faster application development times. "We reckon we've developed only one-third of the code we would have had to if we'd not used an object model," he said. The project allows the firm to collect more operational data. Hoodini was developed using C++ and Java, and is based on CORBA. The servers are supplied by Sun, with Sybase as the database standard. The clients are a mix of Sun and NT 4 workstations. |
