Benefits/Problem Solved:
Lumos Technologies has released the commercial availability of LEAP EAS, a CORBA to TL1 server that allows applications running in the standards based CORBA environment to manage today's most prevalent telecommunications networks. Utilizing IONA's OrbixWeb,LEAP EAS enables telecommunications providers to build integrated systems that can link their corporate computer systems with their network management systems allowing a single seamless management solution.

CORBA is the preferred object-oriented distribution mechanism and the basis for the next generation of telecommunications management systems. Many Network Elements (NEs) are controlled using Transaction Language 1 (TL1), an older management protocol. The LEAP EAS bridges the TL1 gap with CORBA, so that newer management systems can control today's NEs.

Telecommunications is changing rapidly with the deployment of new broadband and wireless networks by established and newer operators. Traditionally, management systems for telecommunications networks were built using proprietary technologies over many years in large projects. That approach can no longer keep pacewith today's ever-changing telecom environment, leaving an increasing gap between the power of the networks and the systems used to manage them. The Lumos LEAP EAS is the first of the next generation of management products that leverage CORBA and Java to manage this highly dynamic telecommunications environment.

Lumos Technologies was founded to build a new generation of carrier class network management solutions for providing Operations Support Systems that keep pace with the rapid advances in networking technologies and services.
